When you look through the lens as a parent, you, the parent, set up reassurance behaviours that maintain your child’s anxiety. Instead of normalising by acknowledging and modelling to your child that anxiety is a normal feeling, AND YOU CAN COPE. Unwittingly, you, the parent, maintain, your child’s fears by rescuing them and not allowing them to feel anxious. They should be able to face their normal developmental fears.
